GW Superhog was donated to the RSG Foundation from the Gary Wilson family.  Gary was a long time Ag Teacher and he worked for many years for Purdue Extension.  He passed away in 2023.  In 2022 Gary purchased the Grand Southdown Ewe in Sedalia from JJ Maddox that he had RSG breed to Beer Run that produced this buck lamb.  Gary was known to many as #Superhog and this ram is named in his honor.  If you’re looking for a purebred wether maker, we believe Gary created him with this mating.  Big backed, shaggy and as stout hipped as you can make one.  This lamb was only 5 months old when Gary passed, but he knew he had a great one.  All proceeds go towards the Foundation First Flock-Herd program to help kids get started raising small ruminants.  Fresh semen also available from RSG Sires.

We also entertain partnership opportunities where RSG Sires is at least ½ owner with possession options.

RSG Sires is a new division of Reproduction Specialty Group Inc. (RSG), established in March 2022 to help better serve our LAI and ET customers by making available a select number of rams and bucks for their breeding purposes.

Annually we handle 125 to 275 in house donors per year and another 300 to 350 donors that haul into RSG for ET services annually. Within this total there is a percentage of those females that must go to fresh semen because frozen or fresh cooled is just not an option. For example, when ewes have failed with fresh cooled or frozen in the past, or old age females that owners want to eliminate semen as a variable of success or failure for their final flush. We also see haul in donors with situations when CIDRs are lost or timing issues that fresh semen is the best option for a customer to make pregnancies or fertilized embryos. RSG Sires goal is to provide a high-quality ram or buck back up option in these situations.

During the past 10 years we have tried to secure on site male options for customers by partnering with producers to stand males at RSG during the breeding season. As you can imagine most producers are needing to use their elite sires at the same time that RSG would need them available. All of these situations and lost opportunities for the customers have led us to develop RSG Sires.

RSG Sires has created a proprietary evaluation process allowing us to score sires on a scale to determine if they have what it takes to become an RSG Sire. Once they have gone thru this process, we make the decision to invest entirely or with a partner who can help promote the sire.
